I ordered this to display a 50th wedding anniversary cake I was making for my in-laws. This arrived safely packed in Styrofoam, was a nice weight, and seemed sturdy. The cake looked great on this stand; the glass didn't distract from the cake itself. I don't like when a cake stand competes with the cake. The hobnail rim was just enough to give it interest without competing. I wanted something that would work with many of my designs from a more casual look to something fairly elegant like the anniversary cake. In fact, I will be using this cake plate for a baby shower cake this weekend--very versatile. I'm very pleased with this purchase. I did a lot of shopping around before deciding on this cake plate, and from what I saw, Amazon's price on this was great.
